Ward D

Freida McFadden
This is my first official book in my hand review I’ve read and written since I was a kid. This book resignated with me in many forms. It not only reminded me that trusting yourself in the chaos is important, but a reminder that you can’t fix everyone. Most importantly, feeling guilty for living your life won’t fix the past. This book is a psychological thriller, but has many lessons you may find helpful reminders throughout.
This book had many plotwists throughout, which are my absolute favorite. It’s the reason I love reading. It is a psychological thriller that depicts the protagonist to be evil in some ways. This book uses a plotwist to show why she was thinking and acting the way she did throughout the book. Now that I’ve read it, I wish there was another book to continue this one.
It would be a great Netflix series or even movie. It is a NY bestselling novel by Frieda McFadden who has more books I will be reading in the future. If you enjoy books about mental health, and books that share thoughts and feelings that make you think, “wait a second? This doesn’t seem right!” This book is for you.
The setting is in a pysch ward known as Ward D. The main character, Amy, you grow to have a love-hate relationship with throughout the novel. You will go back and forth with thoughts of “Why?” throughout the book until the very end.
Amy is a medical student who isn’t quite sure the path she wants to take. All she knows for sure is she wants to be a doctor of some sort. She makes a point to tell the reader how much she doesn’t want to be a pyschiatrist. The book goes back and forth between the past and present.
As you continue through the book, pieces start to come together to help you understand why Amy is the way she is. When you think you have it all figured out, get ready for another plotwist. Before I finished the book, I started writing this review because I thought it was over. I was wrong. This book has you thinking until the very end.
If you love books that make you feel, but later change your perspective, this book is for you. This book is for those of you who like to read a book all the way through in one sitting. Although I had to put it down, it is a conversation piece. The author works with Sourcebooks, an educational based publisher. This book is great for bookclubs and students.
The author included questions for students and bookclubs to help get you started. This novel would make a great book for a book report. There is a lot of dynamics that help the reader to become apart of the scenes. It’s like a horror movie that has a touch of business. This book is an easy read for any age.
